Continuing Education and Workforce Training

Electricians

This DCCA-approved course provides licensed electricians with required continuing-education training on key 2023 NEC updates, OSHA changes, and Hawai?i amendments needed for license renewal and ongoing compliance.

This DCCA-approved recertification course provides licensed electricians with the required continued competency training on the 2023 National Electrical Code. Participants review major updates affecting commercial, residential, and industrial electrical systems, including changes to grounding, bonding, overcurrent protection, and wiring methods. The course also covers relevant OSHA safety updates and Hawai?i state amendments to ensure work meets current standards. Completion of this course fulfills the continuing education requirement for electrical license renewal and helps electricians maintain compliance in the field.

Courses Offered

Course Description

Effective July 1, 1995, all electricians in categories EJ, EJI, EJS, ES, ESI, and ESS (Maintenance Electricians – EM category exempt) must complete a continued competency requirement and pay applicable fees to renew their license. This course fulfills the Hawai?i Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs (DCCA) continuing education requirement for electrical license renewal. Participants review and apply updates from the 2023 National Electrical Code (NEC) and examine key changes impacting electrical installations and safety compliance.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion, participants will be able to interpret and apply 2023 NEC updates to ensure electrical work meets current standards and safety requirements, maintaining eligibility for state license renewal.

The Electrician Journey Worker (EJ 260 hr) Training Program is a 260-hour, in-person training program to fulfill the DCCA requirement to be eligible for the Hawai?i Electrical Journeyman exam.

This 8-Week intensive is designed for those who are between jobs or who are ready to go all-in and complete their preparation as quickly as possible. This schedule offers opportunities for participants to engage in electrical labs and assessments that support learning.

This 6-month program is designed for those working full-time who want a manageable path toward licensure while staying employed. This schedule offers opportunities to engage in electrical labs and assessments that support learning.
