The Emeritus College offers a wide range of Continuing Education workshops in the area of electronic computerized education for adult learners age 55 and above.

The Emeritus College Digital Literacy Series at 91探花 is designed for adult learners age 55 and above who are new to computers or looking to strengthen their confidence with technology. Through engaging, instructor-led workshops and hands-on activities, participants develop the fundamental skills needed to navigate today’s digital world safely and independently.

Course Description

Get the essential knowledge to secure your home computer and Wi-Fi network. You will learn to use Windows’ built-in tools and gain critical security dos and don’ts. Most importantly, you will learn to spot and avoid all major computer scams, including phishing (fake emails stealing data), tech support scams (fraudsters gaining remote access), and malware scams (infecting your device through malicious links). Gain the confidence to protect your digital life.

Course Description

The Emeritus College offers a wide range of Continuing Education workshops in the area of electronic computerized education for adult learners age 55 and above. This course provides an overview for first-time users with little or no computer experience. Students will learn to use the keyboard, mouse, and touchscreen monitor and gain basic computer skills. This is an introductory course that serves as a prerequisite to all other course offerings.

Learning Outcomes

Participants gain foundational computer literacy, can navigate Windows 11 confidently, and are prepared to enroll in subsequent Emeritus digital literacy courses.

Course Description

This course reviews the essentials of using an email program and provides tips to make emailing more effective and secure. Students use their own web-based email accounts to practice sending, receiving, organizing, and attaching files.

Learning Outcomes

Participants will confidently use email for personal communication, manage attachments, and apply best practices for online safety and digital etiquette.

Course Description

Prerequisite: Computer Basics or equivalent experience.This is an introductory course on using the Internet. Students learn to navigate the web through hands-on experience, explore search engines, and evaluate information credibility. The instructor will be available during Open Lab following class sessions for additional support.

Students can confidently browse the Internet, perform searches, and apply safe online practices to explore news, information, and entertainment resources.

This hands-on course covers the basic skills necessary to use the Windows Operating System efficiently. Learners use the keyboard, mouse, and touchscreen monitor to confidently navigate the PC. Participants explore the features of Windows 11, including file management, taskbar navigation, and personalization options.

Learning Outcomes

Students will navigate Windows 11 with confidence, manage files and settings independently, and apply system customization for ease of use.

You’ll learn how to use easy, built-in tools and other free programs to back up your computer and recover everything if something goes wrong. We’ll make sure you feel confident and secure about protecting your
